Seldon R. Johnson, 77, of Torch, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Arcadia Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 23, 1935, in Portland, the youngest of 11 children, of the late Reuben Douglas and Luta Naomi (Aumiller) Johnson. He was a proud veteran of the Air Force, and later retired from The Bureau of the Public Debt after over 33 years of service. He was the pastor of many local churches for over 40 years, and was a member of Vanderhoof Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Connie (Matlack) Johnson; three sons, Mark (fiancee, Amanda) of Belpre, Keith (Anna) of Nelsonville and Clay (Kelli) of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Hannah and Benjamin Johnson of Nelsonville; one sister, Freda (Charles) Fuchs of Parkersburg; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Friends may visit the family 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, Ohio, prior to the service at 1 p.m. Pastor Craig Holler will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Torch Cemetery in Torch, Ohio.
