In a time of sadness following Friday's Connecticut school shootings, it was uplifting to read Saturday's story about young Joseph Sprouse, winner of the Parkersburg News and Sentinel's cookbook contest, who chose to donate a portion of his winnings to the food pantry at St. Margaret Mary Church. Equally commendable was the decision by Jim Oppe, owner of local Foodland stores, to match Joseph's donation.
We should be proud of their example, and find ways to practice their generosity in our own lives.
