Lee DeLong Hammett, 89, of St. Marys, W.Va., passed away Dec. 18, 2012, at Camden Clark Medical Center, St. Joseph's Campus in Parkersburg.
She was born, April 13, 1923, in Dart, Ohio, a daughter of the late Albert and Dora Jane DeLong.
She was a member of George Street Church of Christ in St. Marys, and her hobbies included cooking and sewing. She was known by her grandchildren as "The Cooker."
She is survived by her three daughters, Sharon (Bob) Dawson of White Plains, Md., Johnna (Norris) Pieper of Nashport, Ohio, and Barbara (Charles) Morgan of Vienna, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Kristy Deem of St. Marys, Kara Rogers of Vienna, W.Va., Greg Dawson of Centerville, Va., Todd Dennis of Cleveland, Ohio, J. D. Dennis of Columbus, Ohio, Laura (Ryan) Harnish of Parkersburg and Allie Morgan of Vienna, W.Va.; seven great-grandchildren, McClaren Rogers and Meredith Rogers, both of Vienna, W.Va., Ben Dawson and Brooke Dawson, both of Centerville, Va., and Addison Dennis, Grace Dennis and Sam Dennis, all of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John B. Hammett; a stepdaughter, Mary Alice Deem; one sister, Twila DeLong Adcock; and four brothers, Okey DeLong, Woodrow DeLong, Kenneth Delong and Bryson DeLong.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., with Arnold Huyghebaert officiating. Interment will be in Pleasants Memorial Estates, Eureka, W.Va. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
