POMEROY, Ohio - A Meigs County man died Friday after shooting two others and himself in Meigs County.
The Meigs County Sheriff's Department identified Robert L. Hunt, 57, of Taylor Road, Chester, Ohio, as the person who shot his ex-girlfriend and her daughter, injuring both, and then shot himself about 2:15 p.m. Friday.
The woman was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington with serious injuries, while her adult daughter was taken to a hospital in Point Pleasant with non-life threatening injuries, officials said. Their identities were not released Saturday.
The incident began when Hunt and his former girlfriend appeared in court at a civil protection hearing Friday morning.
Officials said Hunt was ordered to leave the woman alone as a result of the hearing and was told to retrieve his property from their home.
When he showed up, Hunt allegedly opened fire on the two women. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, Hunt was in a field with a shotgun. He disobeyed orders to put it down and then shot himself, officials said.
No further information was available Saturday.
