PARKERSBURG -Das Rookhaus is enjoying a renaissance at its new location at 2911 Dudley Ave.
Das Rookhaus, a cafe, sandwich and sub shop, moved from the bottom floor of the North End Tavern to Dudley Avenue on Oct. 1.
Owner Sherry Dugan said the store's volume has increased each day and she has gotten much praise from residents at Parkland Place, the senior high-rise.

"We have had lots of new customers from the high-rise," she said.
"They can walk up here in good weather and get a sandwich. Plus, the fact all our sandwiches are under $5. We have seen a lot of new faces."
The move to Dudley Avenue is the third in seven years for the shop, which first opened 35 years ago at 31st Street and Emerson Avenue. Dugan said the store was there for 14 years, before moving to Ohio Avenue where it remained for another 14 years.
For the last seven years Das Rookhaus was in the North End Tavern.
The new storefront has ample space, she said. In addition to the dining room, there is also space for a meeting room and a drive-thru, which Dugan is hoping to have operational next year when the exterior concrete construction is complete.
The N.E.T. has been wonderful, redirecting customers to the store's new location, Dugan said. She's also been amazed at the reappearance of old regulars from the Ohio Avenue days.
"We've had a lot customers who didn't go to the N.E.T. come back to us," she said.
Little has changed with the move, Dugan said.
"Everything is identical," she said. "Nothing changes. Just the location."
In addition to the seating and kitchen areas, Das Rookhaus has plenty of space for its massive, signature smoker, which can hold 30, 12-pound turkeys.
"All our meats and cheeses are smoked," Dugan said. "That's what we are known for."
The store provides sandwiches, subs, deli meats and cheeses and catering services. Das Rookhaus is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
