MIDDLEBOURNE - For most children, a birthday is always special, but for one little girl this year's celebrations will be extraordinary.
Cora Grimm will celebrate turning 12 years old on Wednesday, which is the 12th day of the 12th month of the 12th year. This is the last repetitive date for more than 88 years, until Jan. 1, 2101.
"I think it's pretty cool," said Cora from her home in Middlebourne. "I've always wanted a special birthday and thought I would have to wait until I was 16, but I don't."

Cora Grimm, 11, of Middlebourne, will celebrate her 12th birthday on Wednesday, which is the 12th day of the 12th month of the 12th year.
For the big day, she and some friends will have a bowling party and play some of Cora's favorite games, said her mother, Kelly Grimm.
"Really, they are just going to do things that Cora likes," she said. "Cora is a very sports-oriented girl and has always liked sports, so when she said she wanted to go bowling for her birthday, I was not surprised."
Cora, who is an honor roll student at Tyler Consolidated Middle School and plays clarinet in the band, said she put a lot of thought into what she wanted to do for her birthday because it means so much to her.
"I just want a party and I want to do something fun at the 12th minute of the 12th hour, just to mark the time," she said.
Grimm said she has been wondering about this once-in-a-lifetime birthday and date for almost her daughter's entire life.
"When she was a couple of months old it was like a lightbulb went off in my head and I realized that she would always have this special date," Grimm said. "It's not something everybody gets to have and I'm really excited for her."
Grimm describes her daughter as her "tomboy" because she loves to play sports, with softball being her favorite. With the aid of her birth date, Cora has taken a shining to the number 12, Grimm said.
"My basketball number was 12 every year until this year," Cora said. "I don't know why they gave me 14 this year, but at least it's close."
