The children's section of the Beverly Public Library has a new computer. The AWE Early Literacy Station is an all-in-one digital learning solution, mainly for children ages 2-8. It requires no Internet connection, so it is safe and secure. The latest version features more than 60 educational software titles in seven educational areas. The educational titles are pre-loaded on the computer and displayed using colorful, eye-catching graphics and easy-to-use operating menus. The educational software is aligned with both state and national standards.
The 60 educational program topics and titles include the popular "Jump Start" programs from toddler on up; several titles featuring Dora and her friends; music activities; Britannica Encyclopedia for Elementary and Student ages; phonics builders; the always popular Math Blaster and Reader Rabbit programs; other various reading skill programs, Kid Pix; a program to assist children in writing their own stories; programs highlighting the geography of the United States; a dictionary; various Science and Health activities; interactive story books; thinking challenges; Sesame Street titles; and a basic learn-to-type program.
These computers are part of a pilot program currently funded through the Washington County Public Library system. Stop in and try them out or visit the library's Facebook page to see a photograph of one of the new computers.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT SCHEDULED
The Beverly United Methodist Church is holding a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 16. The evening will feature both sacred and secular holiday music by the adult vocal and hand bell choirs as well as the children's bell choir. Everyone is welcome to attend this evening of Christmas music. A free will offering will be taken to help defray the cost of tuning and repair to the adult hand bells. The Beverly United Methodist Church is at 700 Park St.
