Alma Barnard

Alma Barnard, 73, of Belmont, W.Va., passed away Dec. 7, 2012, at the Marietta Care and Rehabilitation Center in Marietta, Ohio.

She was born Dec. 11, 1938, in Pleasants County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ellis and Genevieve Wells Hendrickson.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Belmont, W.Va., where she had been very active in the church. She had been a former director of the children's choir, Sunday School Secretary, assistant church clerk and longtime church treasurer. She was longtime church song leader and church organist.

She is survived by two children, Jenny (Glenn) Fontenot of Breaux Bridge, La., and Jeff (Lynda) Barnard of Fowler, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Jack D. Kelly, Jessica Kelly and Joanna Kelly, all of Breaux Bridge, La., Elizabeth Barnard and Jennifer Barnard of Erie, Pa., Jackie Barnard and Will Barnard of Leesville, La., and Chad Shaffer of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence (Carol) Hendrickson of parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Ruby (Mike) Wolfe of Davisville, W.Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Barnard.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., with Pastor Kelly Snyder officiating. Interment will be in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island, W.Va. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
