Sanford Earl Ruble Jr., 83, of Parkersburg, passed away Dec. 7, 2012, at the Willows Center.
He was born in Parkersburg, the son of the late Sanford Earl Ruble Sr. and Edna Lyons Ruble. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving after World War II with the Occupational Force in Japan, and later served in the Korean War with the 25th Mechanized Cavalry Division Recon Group, MP Company. He had retired from the Wood County Board of Education, where he worked as a mechanic and bus driver. He was a member of the Pinegrove Baptist Church, and the Parkersburg Masonic Lodge #169. He enjoyed country music, camping and enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering and repairing gasoline engines. He was a "do it yourself handyman", and loved working on projects of all types.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Marie Coe Ruble of Parkersburg; his children, David Lee (Gaye) Ruble of Bridgewater, N.J., Lisa Marie (Gary) Pitman of Tucson, Ariz. and Timothy Alan Ruble of Vienna; his grandchildren, Amber Dawn Periera, Jason Baldwin, Randy Baldwin, Jessica Ruble, Katie Shotwell and Isaac Pitman; and two special cousins, Jerry Caplinger and Regina Burdette.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Evangelist Jerry Caplinger officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Mineral Wells, with graveside rites by the Parkersburg American Legion Post #15, and the Parkersburg Masonic Lodge #169. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
