Dorothy Jean Midcap Jones, 78, of Friendly, W.Va., passed away Dec. 3, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1934, in Valley Grove, W.Va., a daughter of the late Santford Midcap and Ethel Boyd Midcap.
Dorothy was instrumental in starting the Sistersville Volunteer Emergency Squad with her husband, Arnold. She was a 1952 graduate of Sistersville High School. She retired in 1993 from Tyler County Schools after serving as a Health Aide and Teachers' Aide and she was a member of the Friendly United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Brian (Teryl) Jones of Adkinson, N.C. and Eric Jones of Jacksonville, N.C.; daughter, Cynthia Jones of Friendly; brothers, Lawrence Midcap of Ocala, Fla. and Harley Midcap of Moundsville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Jones; sister, Lorraine Flesher and brother, Donald Midcap.
Services will be Saturday 11 a.m. at Myers Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Adkins officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville. Interment will be at Friendly Cemetery.
