Police arrest man after fleeing

VIENNA - Charles Carver, 39, of Washington, W.Va., was arrested by local police officers Wednesday and charged with fleeing while driving under the influence.

Officials said a call came in to the 911 Center as a suspected DUI person around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Wal-Mart in Vienna.

Police pursued Carver south on Grand Central Avenue after he was spotted getting into his car allegedly under the influence of alcohol, officials said.

Police continued their pursuit of Carver after he failed to stop. The chase ended at the intersection of Ann and Fourth streets in Parkersburg, where Carver was forced by Vienna and Parkersburg police officials to pull into the parking lot of Matheny Motors, officials said.

Carver was arrested and charged with felony eluding and DUI, according to police records. He was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court Wednesday night and bond was set at $15,000.
