CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Christal Caldwell scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half to rally No. 25 West Virginia to a 54-47 victory over Virginia in a nonconference game Sunday.
Caldwell's jumper capped an 11-0 run by the Mountaineers (4-2) at the start of the half that erased a 26-23 halftime lead for the Cavaliers (5-2).
The junior guard added three 2-point baskets and a 3-pointer as West Virginia built a 43-30 lead with 11:39 remaining.
The Cavaliers cut that to three points, 48-45, after two free throws by Simone Egwu with 3:12 left. Caldwell responded with a 3-pointer and, after a layup by Egwu, added a layup with 35 seconds left for a 53-47 West Virginia lead.
Taylor Palmer added 11 points and Linda Stepney seven assists for West Virginia, which had lost its last two games.

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio Women's Basketball dropped a 65-53 contest to the visiting Detroit Titans on Sunday afternoon at The Convocation Center. The Bobcats generated an impressive 43 points from their bench but had difficulty containing Detroit's strong post play, allowing 44 points in the paint throughout the contest.
With the loss, Ohio drops to 1-5 on the season. The Titans are now 4-3.
Junior guard Erin Bailes led Ohio offensively, tying for a game-high with 19 points. Bailes shot a solid 7-of-15 from the field, including a 5-of-9 mark from three-point range. The junior also added two assists, one block, and five rebounds to her scoring efforts. She was joined in double figures by yet another strong performance by freshman Kiyanna Black, who chipped in 15 points and four rebounds. After scoring 21 points in her first four games as a Bobcat, Black has scored 36 points in her last two outings.
Lexie Baldwinalso had a strong day for the 'Cats, scoring a career-high nine points and collecting a career-high nine rebounds.
