A celebration of Larry D. Young's life was held at 11 a.m. Friday at Church of God of Licking County, 2181 Riggs Road, Newark, Ohio, with Pastor Anthony Bartlette presiding. The family received friends and relatives at the church on Thursday. The family also received friends and relatives Saturday at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Walker, W.Va., followed by a procession to Skidmore Cemetery for an interment service where Pastor Doug Guinn presided.
Mr. Young, 67, passed away on Nov. 25, 2012, at his home. He was born July 18, 1945, in Parkersburg, W.Va., to his parents French and Mary (Moreland) Young.
Larry was employed by Owens Corning for 40 years, retiring as a group leader. The Lord gave Larry the beautiful gift of music of which he made full use. He loved music, especially bluegrass and Southern Gospel. He played both the piano and guitar, and was a member of the Calvaliers Quartet since 1968. He was also blessed with a loving wife, a son, two daughters and six grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his mother, Mary Louise Young of Walker, W.Va.; his loving wife, Gracie Young; son, Kevin (Suzanne) Young of Newark; daughters, Jennifer (Cary) Hock of Granville and Tonya Kidner of Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren, Terran and Taylor Kidner, Emma and Allison Hock and Britney and Kadin Young.
In addition to his father, sister, Sandra Jean Nutter, preceded Larry in death.
Memorial gifts, in Larry's name, may be given to Hospice of Licking County.
