Why can't Marietta do better on its Christmas decorations? Last year it was the red flags with snowflakes that didn't do much for the holidays. This year it is the candy canes.
The committee that plans Marietta's decorations should take a drive to Cambridge to see the beautiful Dickens figures displayed up and down Wheeling Avenue. Then they could put their heads together and plan a series of figures depicting life and events of pioneer days. These could be displayed on Front Street, Putnam Avenue and in Harmar Village.
Numerous activities could be planned around the pioneer theme. This would serve as a new reminder that Marietta is indeed the Pioneer City.
