PARKERSBURG - After the Thanksgiving holiday, West Virginia residents find themselves less thankful at the gas pump as the price of gasoline has increased by six cents a gallon.
According to the AAA East Central Fuel Gauge, the current average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline in West Virginia is $3.595, up 6.1 cents a gallon from a week ago.
West Virginia's average price for gasoline is 17 cents a gallon higher than the national average.
For Wednesday, the national average price for gasoline was $3.419.
This week's average price in West Virginia compares to $3.534 for the previous week and is 23 cents higher from the same time in 2011.
In the Parkersburg area the average price is two cents less than the state average, and 15 cents higher than the national average.
