Irene E. "Mamaw" Perdue, 89, of Bluefield, W.Va., formerly of Premier, W.Va., passed away on Nov. 26, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born Oct. 10, 1923 in Premier, she was the daughter of the late Claude Arthur and Annie Grimes Arthur. Irene attended Welch High School and graduated from the first LPN class at the vocational school in McDowell County. She was a retired LPN from Grace-Doctor's Memorial Hospital in Welch, W.Va., and a member of the Premier United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ira J. Perdue Jr.; brothers, Claude (Betty) Arthur Jr. and Robley (Nancy) Arthur. Her family left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald Perdue Sr. and wife Susie, with whom she made her home in Parkersburg; her daughter, Karen Powell and husband Ray, with whom she made her home in Bluefield; grandson, Ronald Perdue Jr. and wife Amy; step-grandson, Donnie Powell; step-granddaughter, Ami Powell; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Madisson, Destiny and Braelyn; her best friend, Mary Kennedy; and a host of nieces, nephews and a family of friends. She was faithfully devoted to her family above all, and loved spending time with them.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, W.Va. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Martin West officiating. Pallbearers will be Brandon Perdue, Donnie Powell, Tommy Ferrell, Jay Perdue, Roy Powell, Stephen Arthur, Greg Arthur, Walter Lyons and T.J. Powell. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
