Susan H. Gates, 92, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Nov. 22, 2012, at Carriage Court Assisted Living, Grove City, Ohio.
She was born July 22, 1920, in Racine, Ohio. She was the third of nine children of the late Frank and Mary (Singer) Holter.
She has been a faithful member of Summitt Valley United Methodist Church since Aug. 5, 1979. She was a member of the Vienna Senior Citizens, Vienna Nutrition Site, Inner Circle Club of United Bank, Corning Glass Retirees Club and Lifetime Partners of Camden Clark Medical Center. She worked at Corning Glass, and retired with 35 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Norman Gates; one sister, Ethel Cooper of Pettyville, W.Va.; and three brothers, Delbert Holter of Malta, Ohio, Carl Holter of Marietta, Ohio, and Dana Holter of Coolville, Ohio.
She is survived by three sisters, Mattie Lawrence of Portland, Ohio, and Dorothy Browning and Ruby Ann Turner, both of Grove City, Ohio; one brother, Charles (Billy) Holter of Racine, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with burial at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Viewing hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
