Monica Manion Kester, 90, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Nov. 15, 2012.
She was born in New Martinsville, W.Va., in 1922 to the late James and Margaret Manion.
Monica trained as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va., in the early 1940's. She suspended her career on marrying Donald Kester and having their children. When they moved to Texas in the 1960's, she worked at Bellaire General Hospital, moving to Clarewood House as first the night nurse then as Director of Nursing for 20-plus years. In addition to being an excellent and attentive nurse, she was a loving and caring mother and wife.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth of Friendswood, Texas; her son, Michael Donald of Houston, Texas; her sister, Maxine; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Donald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, with Father Ron Prechtl officiating. Interment will be in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island, W.Va. There will not be any calling hours.
