PARKERSBURG -Excuse LPGA Tour professional Brittany Lincicome if turkey wasn't on the menu during her stop in Parkersburg Wednesday morning.
Only days after wrapping up the 2012 LPGA season with a third-place finish at the CME Group Titleholders Tournament in Naples, Fla., Lincicome and her family were celebrating part of the Thanksgiving holiday by eating Italian for their late-morning lunch at Jimmy Colombo's Restaurant.
"We eat there almost every single time we're in town," Lincicome said."The owner knows all of us and has pictures of us on the walls there at the restaurant."
Lincicome, who has already committed to making her annual visit to next summer's Sour Mash Memorial golf tournament at Parkersburg Country Club, is spending several days in Point Pleasant, which also is the hometown of her mother, Angie. Her father, Tom, is a Parkersburg High School graduate.
"It's cool that I get to hang out with my grandmother, who is 83 years old," Lincicome said. "I brought a niece and nephew along, and we've been talking about going fishing at one of the local ponds."
Lincicome finished the year with six top 10 finishes and eclipsed the $5 million mark ($5,013,631) in earnings for her career. As an added bonus, the 27-year-old golfer from Seminole, Fla., was awarded a brand-new Kia Optima for placing first in driving distance with a 276.1-yard average this season. Lexi Thompson was runner-up at 272.0.
"I'm glad it's over - every hole I was mapping what the long drive holes were," Lincicome said. "Lexi Thompson made it too close for comfort."
The color of the vehicle is yet to be determined, but keep in mind Lincicome owns two cars which are both black.
"I'm a huge fan of black, but when they presented the car to me, it was white," Lincicome said. "It was really pretty, but obviously I will look on-line for what color I want."
Driving the ball for distance has always been her strength, but this season, she could never get her short game to coincide.
"If I was driving well, I wasn't putting well," Lincicome said. "If I was putting well, I wasn't driving well. I wasn't as consistent as last year, so hopefully that is something I will be able to work out, so I can have a better 2013.
"It was nice to end the year with a good finish, but I wish I had a couple of more events. I felt I played well in Mexico (the previous week). Hopefully, I play well in December, then again in mid-February when the season resumes."
In December, Lincicome will resume her golf schedule by competing at Taiwan's "Swinging Skirts" tournament.
The second week of January, she will serve as host for the 2013 Brittany & Friends Celebrity Pro-Am in St. Petersburg, Fla. Among the celebrities are members of the LPGA Tour in addition to baseball players from the Tampa Bay Rays organization.
"It's an event to raise money for kids, so it should be a good time," Lincicome said.
