J. Cletis Rhodes, 86, of Ravenswood, died Nov. 17, 2012, at Charleston, W.Va.
He was born April 13, 1926 in Charleston, W.Va., a son of the late Julian Lester Rhodes and Oma Harper Rhodes. He was a member of Pentecostal Assembly in Racine, Ohio, where he was active in Sunday school and prayer group. He enjoyed having men's fellowship with the members of the church, and also his fellow retirees from Kaiser Aluminum. He was an artist and was active in community fitness in Ripley, W.Va. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. in Ravenswood, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Charles Rhodes and wife Carol of Plant City, Fla., Rita Miller and husband Frederick of Charleston, W.Va. and John Rhodes and wife Christine of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Michelle Vance Hammack of Charleston, Christopher Rhodes of Vienna, Steven Rhodes of Parkersburg and Benjamin Rhodes of Parkersburg; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Jacob of Charleston; great-great-grandchildren, Teleah and Xander of Charleston; brother, Robert Rhodes and wife Betty of Charleston; step-children, William G. Jeffrey and wife Sandy of Sandyville, Debra Jeffrey McConnell and husband Harold of Wisconsin, Terry Jeffrey Shockey and husband Ray of Ripley and Janet Jeffrey Parsons and husband Danny of Ravenswood. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Roberta Ferrell Rhodes in 1989; second wife, Betty Jeffrey Rhodes in 2010; and sister, Genevieve.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Bill Sheets officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call at the funeral home 9-11 a.m. Wednesday.
