More than one market open

November 18, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

As the Parkersburg papers have made their readers well aware of the Downtown Farmers' Market, I would like to also remind those readers of another Farmers Market in your area.

The River City Farmers' Market has been going strong for 12 years and is located at the Washington County Fairgrounds, 922 Front St., Marietta. We are open every Saturday year round until 1 p.m. We have a permanent building that is heated in the winter and also "open air" in the summer.

At the height of the growing season we are 80 members strong. All our produce, including veggies, fruits, pumpkins, lettuce, radishes, kale, onions, tomatoes, corn, beans, plants, flowers, and so much more are all locally grown by our members. We do not allow "shipped in" items. You know you are helping the local economy and you know where your food comes from.

In addition to produce, we offer fresh local meats, including sausage, rabbit, goat and lamb and also fresh cheeses. We have many baked goods, pies, cupcakes, breads and cookies.

Also we offer some of the finest crafts available. Again, hand made by local members. We offer crochet items, wood bowls, urns, pictures and spoons, purses, jewelry, home decor, pottery, soaps, candles, dog accessories, scarves, gloves and much, much more. We have numerous events throughout the year from our breakfast, soup tasting, cake auction, trick or treat, strawberry festival and others.

We hope you will take the time to visit the River City Farmers' Market, as well as the Downtown Farmers' Market.
