Make Congress work for us

November 18, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

I wrote a letter to Speaker John Boehner, David McKinley and Bill Johnson, asking them to work with the president and the Senate to help the people of this country. What I asked them to do is to raise the taxes on the very wealthy, cut the loopholes for them, cut subsidies to fossil fuels and large corporate farms and reduce the spending for defense. Instead of cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid really work to improve them and make them work. Work to pass the Jobs Bill that was sent to the House by the president months ago.

At a time when Congress has the lowest rating ever, it is time to look to the needs of the country. It is time to be a leader and work for the people. Isn't that why they were elected?

I encourage all to write letters and call the congressman to work for the people.
