Local runners exel

Several local runners took place in the Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon on October 21. Roger Quimby of Beverly, placed first in the marathon competitive walker division male overall with an overall time of 5:01:30. The average time for the 26.2 mile race was 6:04:14. Participating in the half-marathon competitive walker division male was Jay Smith of Beverly. Smith finished the half-marathon, 13.1 miles, in 2:26:34. Average time for the half marathon was 3:14:07.

Lori Ring, also of Beverly, placed third in the marathon competitive walker division female. Her over-all time for the race was 5:34:05. Also competing in the half-marathon competitive walker division female was Renea Ball. Her time was 2:33:01.

This year's marathon had a record field of competition with 18,000 runners and walkers.

NOVEMBER EVENTS AT THE LIBRARY

Preschool story time at the Beverly Public Library is planned for Wednesday, November 21. Children ages 2-5 are invited to the library for a time of crafts, movies, stories, snacks, and fun. This week's topic is 'pine cone turkey'. Parents are reminded children are to be accompanied by a responsible adult that will remain with the child throughout the story time. The program begins at 11 a.m.

School-aged children are invited to the library on Tuesday, November 20 from 4-5 p.m. for a "Get with the Beat" program.
