Mabel I. Collins, 82, of Pennsboro, W.Va., passed away Nov. 16, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.
She was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Danville, Va. Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late David A. and Opal M. Davis Cumpston.
Mrs. Collins was a 1949 graduate of Doddridge County High School, and had attended banking classes at the former Parkersburg Community College. Mrs. Collins retired as a teller for the Community Bank of Pennsboro. She had attended Harmony United Methodist Church near Summers, W.Va. Mrs. Collins was a member of the Sunshine CEOS of Pullman, W.Va., had been a 4-H Leader and a den leader for the Cub Scouts. Mrs. Collins' favorite role and pasttimes revolved around that of homemaker. Her favorite times were those spent with her family and friends. She had also been a lifelong racing fan.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her children, Brock (Debby) Collins of St. Marys, W.Va., Tersea "Terry" (Gary) Hamilton of Shirley, W.Va., Deena (Roger) Richards of Lynn Camp Community, Pullman, W.Va., and Peter (Jill) Collins of Williamstown, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by husband, Jarvis "Pete" Collins, whom she married Sept. 7, 1950, in Oakland, Md. She was also preceded by her siblings, Rosella Moore Hart, Charles "Buck" Cumpston, Mary Cumpston and Betty Holland; and one great-grandchild.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
