Martha Lee Gilbert, 87, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Nov. 17, 2012, following a short illness.
She was born in Middlebourne, W.Va., on Sept. 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Cora Ada Ingram and Corley Ray Ingram.
She was a 1943 graduate of Parkersburg High School. She worked at Kresge Variety Store in Parkersburg, and later was employed by Montgomery Wards, the Diamond and Stone & Thomas at Grand Central Mall. She was a lifetime member of Rosemar Road Church of Christ. Martha enjoyed an active life of watching sports, gardening, quilting, playing cards and traveling to area gospel sings, but most of all opening her home to visits from family.
Martha is survived by her six children, Shirley Levine (Michael) of Waverly, W.Va., Charles Frederick Bailey of Naples, Fla., John Morgan (Sherri) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Alecia Cline of Ohio, Carl Douglas Morgan (Sharon) of Washington, W.Va., and Cindy Walters (Samuel) of Valparaiso, Ind. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, Travis Rector, Annie Levine, Brian Bailey, Alex Bailey, Anjolie Bailey, Stevie Cline, Andrew Morgan, Chase Morgan, Delaney Morgan, Noah Morgan, Peyton Walters and Madison Walters; and four great-grandchildren, Breanna Rector, Alex Rector, Britney Rector and Ethan Levine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her only sister, Mary Kathryn Ingram; and three husbands, Charles A. Bailey, Carl E. Morgan and Frederick P. Gilbert.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.
