Robert Gene Johnson, 59, of Marietta, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Nov. 10, 2012, at home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1953 in Parkersburg, W.Va. He is the son of Mary Lou Ingram and Russell W. Johnson. He was a Union Journey Carpenter for 23 years, and a member of the local 899, recently retired. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved going to church.
He is survived by a son, Shane Johnson, and a daughter, Chrystal Johnson, both of Florida; brother, Charles Johnson; three sisters, Linda Morgan, Sharon Ball and Lawauna Pruitt, all of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Shane, Justin and Dakota, all of Florida; and a very dear friend of 49 years, Terrie Deem.
He was a member of Calvary Mission Church, where he gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized by Pastor Jack Brown.
He donated his body to science in hopes of finding a cure for cancer and/or diabetes. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the help and T.L.C. given by Hospice and staff. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in his name.
Memorial services to be held at 2410 10th Ave. Church of God at 6 p.m. Thursday.
