UP: To the more than 61 percent of Wood County citizens who took the time to vote - either early or on Tuesday - in the General Election. Our democracy is a participatory one, with every citizen having a role to play. Voting is one of the most important roles we can play.
UP: To the 2012 Special Olympics West Virginia Fall Games, being held today and tomorrow in Parkersburg. Best of luck to all of the athletes from 29 West Virginia counties and to the 200 volunteer coaches who have spent weeks training for the games.
UP: To the ceremonies planned this weekend to honor veterans. While Veterans Day is Sunday, it will officially be held on Monday with several events planned. If we know any veterans of the U.S. armed services, we should make sure we thank them for their service.
UP: To the Wood County Clerk's office, employees, poll workers and other volunteers who helped Tuesday's election run smoothly despite a high turnout and long lines. In spite of this, things ran smoothly and the vote count was made in a quick and orderly manner.
