Carolyn Sue Pratt Wilcoxen, 67, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her residence Friday morning, Nov. 9, 2012.
Mrs. Wilcoxen was born in Gary, Ind., on Sept. 17, 1945, the daughter of the late De Morris Pratt and the late Esther Pratt and Layrd and Helen Smith, whom she considered her family. After arriving in Parkersburg in 1960, she attended Parkersburg High School, graduating in 1963. She graduated from West Virginia University with a teaching degree in French. She taught school in Pittsburgh and then at Belpre High School. After teaching, she was elected to the Belpre Board of Education, where she served as President for two years. Later, she served as the secretary for the Good Samaritan Clinic, and was the financial secretary for the First Presbyterian Church, where she had been a member for 50 years.
She is survived by her husband, William T. "Tom" Wilcoxen of Belpre; sister, Anne Dale and her husband David Winger of Parkersburg; step-daughter, Shelly Shaw of Oakland, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Sherry Rafferty and her husband Chuck and Phyllis Edgell and her husband Allen, all of Belpre. She was a favorite aunt to Jay Winger and family, Tracy Winger Conaway and family, Jeff Rafferty and family and Carol Rafferty McNulty and family.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, 1341 Juliana Street, Parkersburg, with Rev. Michael Seely and Rev. George Spransy officiating.
