Carl Gene James, 76, of West Union, passed away Oct. 30, 2012, at Salem Care and Rehab Center in Salem, W.Va.
He was born Sept. 7, 1936 in Mautua, Ohio, a son of the late Paul and Sylvia (Dillon) James.
Carl owned and operated Carl James Logging and the James Lumber Company. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked heavy equipment on road construction including the building of new U. S. Rt. 50.
Surviving are three sons: Jesse (Dianne) James of Harrisville, Doug James of Greenwood and Brian James of West Union, a daughter Donna (Steve) Davis of Pennsboro, brothers and sisters: Joan Evans of Smithburg, Joyce Hollis of Washington Courthouse, Ohio, Linda Campbell of Pullman, Naomi Cunningham of Cabin Run, W.Va., Barbara Reed of Central Station and Lonnie James of Greenwood.
He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Mallory James, Joshua James, Corey Davis and Shane Davis.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: DeWayne "Bud" James and Emmit James.
Funeral services will be Friday 11 a.m. at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, with Pastor Bobby Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Memorial Park at Crystal Lake, West Union. Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m.
