Rolley Johnson Wilson, 83, departed this life Oct. 29, 2012, at The Heritage in Bridgeport, W.Va.
He was born July 28, 1929 at Apple Farm, W.Va., the youngest child of the late George Spence and Bessie (Stump) Wilson. He grew up on the farm and attended Lower Rush Run and Russet grade schools. He graduated from Calhoun County High School, with the class of 1947. He joined the Air Force in Dec. 1949 and served four years, being honorably discharged in Dec. 1953. In Dec. 1950, he married Helen Genevra Taylor of Pennsboro, W.Va. In Oct. 1955, he was called to DuPont, Washington Works, where he remained for 29 and 1/2 years as a mechanic. After retiring from DuPont, he worked 7 and 1/2 years for Nashua Photo. He was Baptist by faith and had been very active in church. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Club. He enjoyed playing guitar and loved music and his family.
He is survived by a son, Robert Douglas Wilson of Clarksburg; daughter-in-law, Marlene Wilson of Augusta, Ga.; granddaughter, Marlena Wilson of Augusta; a sister, Osa Merle Fowler; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wilson; and nine brothers and sisters, Treacy Jane Stump, Reacy Anne Wilson, Hugh George Wilson, Bessie Margarete Ledsome, Eda Bertha Stalnaker, Donnie Forest Waldeck, Luke Spence Wilson, Mary Serepta Starkey and Henry Calvin Wilson.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, with full military rites provided by American Legion Post 15.
