Hensley—Walz

Alice Aileen Hensley and Jeremy David Walz were united in marriage on May 5 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Parkersburg. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Very Rev. Larry Jackson.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. Michael Hensley of Parkersburg. She is the granddaughter of George and Iris Hensley of Savannah, Ga., and the late Richard Woodrum and the late Doris Woodrum of Vienna. She is a 2001 graduate of Parkersburg High School, a 2005 graduate of Williams College and a 2011 graduate of the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine of Marshall University. She is completing a pediatrics residency at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.

The groom is the son of David and Judy Walz of Slidell, La. He is the grandson of Dorothy Walz and the late Henry Walz of Randolph, Neb., and Glenn and Iona Johnson of Beatrice, Neb. He is a 2000 graduate of Slidell High School and received a bachelor's degree in biology from University of Southern Mississippi in 2004. In 2009 he received a doctorate in optometry from University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is completing a fellowship in traumatic brain injury at the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Medical Center, Palo Alto, Calif.

Hensley—Walz

The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, wore a strapless ivory organza dress. The asymmetrically draped and fitted bodice flared to a full length skirt of cascading layers reminiscent of peony petals. The bride carried a bouquet of pale blush peonies and chartreuse snowball viburnum tied with a wide ivory satin ribbon.

Maid of honor was Kerry Hensley, sister of the bride, of Parkersburg, and matron of honor was Dr. Laurel Hensley, sister of the bride, of Ogden, Utah. Bridesmaids were Julia Allen, cousin of the bride, of New York City, N.Y.; Chelsie Pratt of Pittsburgh, Pa, formerly of Parkersburg; Jessica Walz, sister of the groom, of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and Dr. Julie Wesp of Kansas City, Miss. The bridesmaids wore fitted knee-length silhouette dresses of graphite cotton candy with radiating pleats on the strapless bodice. Attendants carried bouquets of vibrant pink peonies, accented with chartreuse snowball viburnum, and tied with black and white striped grosgrain ribbon.

Serving as best man was Chad Reilly of New Orleans, La. Groomsmen were Joseph Tullos of Hattiesburg, Miss., Patrick O'Hara of New Orleans, Dylan Meeks of Santa Monica, Calif., Dr. Brian Hensley, brother of the bride, of Greenville, N.C., and James Hill, of Charleston, S.C. Justin Ranger of New Orleans and William McMillin of Kingsport, Tenn., served as ushers.

Scriptural readers were Julia Allen and Geoffrey Allen, cousins of the bride from New York City, N.Y. Guest book attendants were Stephanie Farha and Rob Carter of Huntington, friends of the couple.

A dinner reception was held at the Parkersburg Country Club

After a honeymoon to Playa Mujeres, Mexico, the couple resides in Mountain View, Calif.
