I had the pleasure of working for the City of Parkersburg for 11 years. I started in the police department, worked a little in the fire department, then in Public Works and the Mayor's Office. So it's safe to say I've been all over.
I still have a lot of good friends at the city building. City workers are lucky to have secure employment with full health coverage. Most of the employees are hard-working and dedicated people who want to see good things happen in Parkersburg.
Like all places you work, there are always a few who complain instead of being thankful for their jobs and benefits they have. The ones who complain the most are those who produce the least and it is sad to see those few publicly complaining.
I would give anything to be healthy enough to be out in the workforce again and have my job back and feel productive as I once did serving the wonderful citizens of our great community. I appreciate Jimmy Colombo and Mayor Bob Newell for the opportunity to be their assistant.
