Voters beware. Our local magistrate court has a major flaw. First of all, they hand down the rule of law without any background in law-on-the-job-training for them.
Recently someone close to me had a civil issue in magistrate court before Robin Waters. In the case she granted a continuance because the petitioner was on vacation. Court date came around and my friend was working out of town, asked for a continuance and was denied. Waters held the hearing without him present and ruled against him. He appealed, she refused his appeal without a bond being posted, on a civil case.
She still refuses his appeal. The worst part is, his sister is running against Waters in the upcoming election, and she knew this all the time. But what do you expect from a woman who hears cases then sends them to her husband, who is the circuit judge, Robert Waters. Makes one wonder about their late evening conversations? I can assure you it is a conflict of interest, yet she doesn't care, who's gonna hold her accountable, when her husband's the boss? I'll tell you who-us, the voters this election.
Again, this is the exact reason West Virginia is a judicial hell hole. Let's make the change right now and eliminate these good ol' boy systems and family monopolies in our local system.
