John Allen James, 91, of Parkersburg, passed away Oct. 24, 2012, at Worthington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Parkersburg.
He was born Sept. 20, 1921, at Blue Creek, W.Va., the son of the late Homer James and Edna Allen James.
John was a very active member of the Cottageville United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the DuPont 25-year club. His hobbies included camping and fishing. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in North Africa and Italy. He was a chemical operator at DuPont Plant in Belle, W.Va., for 40 years. He was on the Board of Directors for the Action Youth Home.
He is survived by a daughter, Vicki Walker and her husband, Harold, Washington, W.Va.; grandchildren: David Walker and his fiancee Carrie Day, Parkersburg, and Andrew Walker, Washington; great-granddaughter: Megan Walker, Washington; nieces: Edith Nichols, Julie Peters, Charlotte Hahn, Sharon Barrett, Terry Perkins, Susan Patterson, Jayne Schurich Dunn; nephews: Jim Ramey, Brent Doss, Paul Schurick, and Jeff Ramey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dolores; and brother, Howard.
Services will be Monday, Oct. 29, noon at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Pastor Ted Osgood officiating. Burial will be in the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes, W.Va. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Monday,10 a.m. until noon.
