PARKERSBURG - Organizers of the Parkersburg Winter Market are searching for musical and artistic talent.
Rickie Yeager, planning administrator for the city, said organizers are making plans to kick off the winter market and want to showcase area talent.
The second annual Winter Market is set to get under way Nov. 3. Yeager said the market will be open on the first Saturday of each month, November March, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in West Virginia University at Parkersburg's downtown campus at 705 Market St.
In addition to offering customers baked goods, produce and value added wares, the market will showcase local talent in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Market officials are seeking musicians and artists to showcase their talents at the market.
"This is a great opportunity for artisans and musicians to showcase their work to a large audience," Yeager said.
"Exhibit space is free and musicians are compensated for their time," he added.
"It's a great opportunity. As fair and festival season has come to an end and there aren't many venues for people during the winter months."

Yeager said the winter market's opening in February drew approximately 2,000 visitors the first day.
