Ella Mae Gherke, 91, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, in a local care center.
Ella Mae Hatchell was born on July 25, 1921, in Denham Springs, La., to Norman E. Hatchell and May Miller Hatchell. She married Carlos Gherke on Oct. 31, 1945 in Denham Springs, La. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1992. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a Baptist.
Survivors include daughters, Cynthia Johnson of Breckenridge and Betty Huelsebusch of Kingwood; sons, Richard Gherke of Longview, Michael Gherke of Glenville, W.Va., Wayne Gherke and wife, Peggy of Fayetteville, W.Va., and Zane Gherke and wife, Betty of Vienna, W.Va.; brother, N.E. Hatchell of Denham Springs, La.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service with Rev. Charles West officiating will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. in the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery.
