VOLCANO - Mountwood Park accepted a new board member at Monday night's meeting.
Board members approved the addition of Gary Thompson, an energy assessment and management technology professor at West Virginia University at Parkersburg. Board president Bob Buchanan said the professor will be a tremendous asset to the board.
"He will be a good addition," he said. "We are pleased to have him."
Also, a memorandum of understanding between the volunteers for the ATV park and Mountwood Park board members was approved Monday. The memorandum states the board will discuss the addition of the ATV park after discussion by the public and park officials.
A public information meeting to discuss the ATV park will be 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Judge Black Annex across from the Blennerhassett Hotel.
"All public and all neighbors of surrounding properties and Mountwood Park are invited to attend," Buchanan said. "Anybody with questions relative to what we will be doing, how the park will run, where it will be; everything about it."
The park's annual Volcano Days festival was a huge success, said Buchanan.
"(The board) would like to thank all of the citizens who attended and supported the park," he said. "We hope they had a wonderful time."
