Vote no on Warren levy

October 15, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

How many people in Warren Township realize a emergency tax levy was passed in 2009 that is in effect until 2014? I wonder what the emergency was for? Was it to repair the schools that according to the board are in such bad shape they need torn down and new ones built, wait now they can be repaired!

Maybe it was used to buy land and build a soccer field or maybe put a track around the football field, or however they wanted to spend your tax dollars, but it surely wasn't to repair the school buildings. Marietta Middle School, Washington Street School, Parkersburg High School, are just some of the schools that were build long before Warren High School and have been maintained and are still being used today, maybe if Warren had maintained there schools and repaired things when they needed fixed, they wouldn't be asking for another levy.

Gas, food, utilities, still rising, plants shutting down, people out of work and unemployment running out, people are struggling just to pay their bills, older folks on Social Security can't afford anymore taxes, especially from a school board who doesn't know the value of your money and where to spend it where it's needed. Maybe it's time to clean house and get some people in there who know how to budget your money.

Warren School Board seems like a child who has been told no over and over again and now they have resulted to a form of bribery, saying that if you pass this levy we will reinstate the high school buses. Really, after you have forced the parents to find alternative means to get their kids to school, which in its self was quite a hardship, your telling them give us your hard earned dollar to spend how we see fit and will let your kids ride the bus? There should be no question of what your vote would be: NO.
