Vincent Joseph Smith, 86, of Parkersburg, died Oct. 11, 2012, at is home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late John Thomas and Anna Elizabeth Burrows Smith. He retired as a Sheet Metal worker and member of the Sheet Metal Local #33, and was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre and Iwo Jima.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Rose Powell Smith; two daughters, Charlotte Cale of Parkersburg and Barbara Starkey of Vienna; two sons, Joe (Patty) Smith of Parkersburg and Jim (Cindie) Smith of Vienna; eight grandchildren, Brenda, Melonie, Cindy, Shannon, Shelley, Sam, Andy and V.J.; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, William "Ike" Smith of Little Hocking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters; two brothers; and two grandsons, Sean and Matthew.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with Father Neil Bucklein officiating.
