What about Couch’s taxes?

October 7, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

Quoted in a Parkersburg News article on May 24 this year, Wood County Commissioner Blair Couch made excuses for having not paid over $16,000 of personal property taxes that he owes to the county from his Hertz rental business. Couch's assertion was that since he is now operating the business under a new corporation he does not owe the taxes for when he operated the business under the AW Couch Inc. name. Nevertheless, Couch said he would pay the taxes because "it's the right thing to do."

So what is his position now? County records online show that AW Couch Inc. still owes over $17,000 with interest and Couch has not paid a dime on the taxes.

The Wood County Commission has hired an attorney to collect delinquent taxes from other scofflaws. Will Commissioner Couch also hire an attorney to collect the taxes that he owes to county taxpayers?
