Devin Neil Kays, 3, of Parkersburg, passed away Oct. 3, 2012, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born July 13, 2009, in Parkersburg, the son of Jessy Thomas Kays and Natisha Dawn Stephens Kays.
Surviving are his parents; a brother, Nathan Kays, and a sister, Kimberly Kays, both of Parkersburg; maternal grandparents, Edward Stephens of Parkersburg and Mylitta White of North Carolina; paternal grandparents, Thomas Kays and Gwen Spoto, both of Parkersburg; paternal great-grandmother, Ethel Kays of Washington state; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a cousin, Shawna Lemon.
Devin was a typical 3-year-old boy, with a wonderful smile and beautiful blue eyes. He enjoyed books and having books read to him, playing with cars, action figures, blocks, pounding on the piano, running around the house and yard, laughing and playing with his brother and sister. He loved peanut butter and hot dogs, and made such a mess eating his first ice cream cone! He enjoyed riding some rides at this summer's Parkersburg Homecoming Carnival. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
The funeral service for Devin will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. The visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday.
Memorial donations may be made to Ruby Memorial Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Memory of Devin Kays.
