Alfred J. McCloy "Wimpy," 74, of Pennsboro, W.Va., departed this life on Oct. 5, 2012, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
Wimpy was born April 13, 1938, in Ritchie County, a son of the late Alpha and Wilma (Jones) McCloy.
He worked in the timber industry at various sawmills and later began working for State Construction of Beckley, W.Va., as a heavy equipment operator. He was noted as being one of the best dozer operators in the state and could operate any kind of heavy equipment they made. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and spending time with his loving family.
He is survived by his three children, Regina Duong of Jacksonville, Fla., Steve McCloy of Lancaster, Ohio, and Alfred Junior McCloy II "JR" of Harrisville, W.Va.; grandchildren, Bradley, Staci, Cassandra, Chelsi, Brian and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jacelynn and Jeremiah; sisters, Edith Wright of Medina, Ohio, Ada Bills of Belmont, W.Va., Linda Kester of St. Marys, W.Va., Wendy Steele of Pennsboro, W.Va., and his half sister, Stella Cottrill of Pullman, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Alfred Paul; daughter, Dana; sisters, Elfreda Ellis and LouVonnia Prunty; brothers, Johnny and Arlie McCloy Sr.; and half brothers, William and Jackie Jones.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, W.Va. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In accordance to Wimpy's wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral service and buried on the family plot in the Pullman Cemetery at a later date.
