PARKERSBURG - The Parkersburg Police Department is investigating an incident on Sunday when the mother of a 3-year-old toddler said the child was accidentally injured, the police department said.
Officers were dispatched to Camden Clark Medical Center at 1 p.m. Sunday on a report of an injured child, Sgt. Greg Collins, spokesman for the department, said.
The mother advised the child was hurt while playing in their home, Collins said.
The toddler was taken by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown where he remains in critical condition, Collins said.
Detectives from the police department and Child Protective Services are conducting the investigation, he said.
