Later, the family, now including four children, moved to Vienna where Bobby worked as a cabinet builder and later worked at Diamond Glass. He and Shirley later moved to Mesa, Ariz., where he was a cross-country truck driver, a tour bus driver and a manager of a resort. After living a few years in Georgia, they moved to South Carolina before returning to Vienna.
