The liberal "Chicken Littles" are at it, again. Every time someone dares to criticize Dear Leader (oops, I mean, President Obama), the letters come in from the same three or four people forecasting the demise of all social welfare programs if (gasp) a Republican is elected.
Now, I would be the last person to tell you that the Republicans have all of the answers. However, the cult of personality that surrounds this president is disturbing, to say the least. Never in my lifetime have I ever seen people so rabidly defend a politician. Even Bill Clinton wasn't worshipped the way Obama is.
The difference is, Bill Clinton was smart enough to know that not everyone in the country agreed with his agenda and, when his party took a beating in the 1994 elections, he did what any sensible person would have done: He compromised. Not so, with this president. It's "Damn the torpedoes...full speed, ahead!"
My paternal grandfather was a lifelong Democrat, but if he was still here, there is no way that he would have supported this president's agenda. Furthermore, he would have been troubled by the hero worship that is heaped upon this president, as well as the emotionally-charged backlash that is directed at anyone who dares to criticize him.
I have to wonder, as I'm sure he would have, "Where have all the conservative Democrats gone?"
