Elva Kelley, 55, of Palestine, W.Va., passed away at his residence on Sept. 21, 2012, doing what he loved, providing for his family.
He was born in West Hamlin, W.Va., the son of Burley Kelley and the Late Romain (Rakes) Kelley. He loved hunting, fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nora (Tomblin) Kelley; children, Kernie Sue (Chris) Deringer of Forest, Ohio, Kenneth Ray (Tiny) Kelley of Dingess, W.Va., Kari Kelley of Parkersburg, W.Va., Kayla (Jon) McKee of Palestine, W.Va., Nora R. Deringer-Kelley of Palestine, W.Va., and Debra L. Deringer-Kelley of Palestine, W.Va.; grandchildren, Rebeka (Beka-Boo) Michelle McKee of Palestine, W.Va., Anna Bell Deringer of Forest, Ohio, and Daniel Lee McKee of Sycamore, Ohio; five brothers, Clyde Delmar (Sue) Kelley of Crawley Creek, W.Va., Raymond Kelley of Branchland, W.Va., Burley (Vickie) Kelley of Huntington, W.Va., Floyd Kelley of Wayne, W.Va., and Jerry Roberson of Alabama; eight sisters, Donzel (Ronnie) Adams of Harts, W.Va., Marie (Tim) Kirk Taylor of Hamlin, W.Va., Weltha Kelley of Wyoming, W.Va., Elzinia (Possum) Ferrell of Monaville, W.Va., Mondella Kelley of Huntington, W.Va., Kathy Townsend of Louisiana, Mary (Tubby) Workman of Branchland, W.Va., and Shelia (Bobby) Basadre of Chapmanville, W.Va.; mother-in-law, Kernie Carter Tomblin of Palestine, W.Va.; one brother-in-law, Dewey R. (Sandy) Tomblin of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; four sisters-in-law, Regina (Lenard) Hallman of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Tonya (Terry) Morrison of Palestine, W.Va., Jody Darby of Loraine, Ohio, and Juanita (Richard) Cope of Palestine, W.Va.; and he was loved by many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one niece, Rhonda (Adams) Woody; three nephews, baby Joe Taylor, Patrick Lee Adams and Joey Allen Taylor; and father-in-law, Dewey Tomblin Jr.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville, W.Va., with the Rev. Jr. Collins officiating. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Monday at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth, W.Va., and from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville, W.Va. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery/Hoover of Big Harts Cemetery.
