PARKERSBURG - For the first time, the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley is looking to connect female executives and business leaders with a Women in Leadership Luncheon.
"The target is female executives and those rising to the top of their organizations," said chamber President/CEO Jill Parsons. "This luncheon is designed to celebrate women who guide area businesses and organizations and those rising to those positions in the future."
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Blennerhassett Hotel.
"The theme is 'Balancing Your Teacup,'" Parsons said. "We chose this because, as a female executive you juggle many roles."
There are two parts of the event with the luncheon and ice breaker activities before an afternoon tea.
The two keynote speakers of the event will be Sandy Austin Feltner with Pepsi Cola and Lynne Schwabe with the National Youth Science Foundation.
"Both of them are very strong women that we hope will inspire those who attend," Parsons said.
Austin Feltner is the top female executive for West Virginia and eastern Kentucky for Pepsi Cola. She began with the company in 1984 and has moved up the ranks from associate to her current position.
Schwabe is the director of development for the National Youth Science Foundation and has been a war reporter in Vietnam as well as a speech writer for Sen. Jay Rockefeller.
The afternoon tea will include Dave Hawkins with Mother Earth Foods who will discuss the hot teas being served. Cold teas will be provided by Pepsi Cola from its new product line.
"I hope people will enjoy this different event," Parsons said.
Although Friday was the last day to register, there is limited seating available by contacting Parsons at the chamber office at 304-422-3588 on Monday.
