Wanda A. Bennett, 83, formerly of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Sept. 15, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 15, 1929, in Wood County, a daughter of the late Earl and Artie Stephens Sands.
Wanda retired from Demuth (Brockway) Glass Co. after several years of service. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Wanda was a member of the Parkersburg Country Club, where she enjoyed golfing and participated in several women's leagues.
Mrs. Bennett made her home with her sister-in-law, Connie Sands of Williamstown, and her late husband, Aubry Sands. She is also survived by her sister, Patty Anderson (Harold "Rex") of Belpre, Ohio; a niece, Denise Sands Burch of Parkersburg; and a nephew, Andrew Sands (Heather) of Milford Center, Ohio; a devoted and faithful friend, Noel Wheaton of Vienna; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Okey Bennett; five brothers, Harlan "Bud," Clyde, Wayne, Aubry and Donald Sands; and two sisters, Lona Ritchie and Nieta Nichols.
Funeral services for Wanda will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home of Vienna with Pastor David Easter officiating. Burial will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
