I want the community to know what type of young men our school coaches are inspiring. Last night I had the pleasure of watching my seventh-grader from Marietta Middle school play Meigs. After that game my family remained to watch the eighth-grade team play. Early in the eighth-grade game a player on the Meigs team was injured and required paramedics to remove him from the field on a back board and stretcher. (I had heard it was a neck injury.)
While he was leaving the field the entire MMS eighth-grade team ran to the end of the field to offer their hopes of speedy recovery to the injured boy. That says a tremendous lot about the quality of our school coaches and what they are offering our youth. Bravo to our coaches for teaching our boys respect and humility in addition to sporting skills.
