Charles E. “Charlie” Freeland

Charles E. "Charlie" Freeland, 73, Parkersburg, passed away on Sept. 3, 2012, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.

He was born on June 5, 1939 in Spencer, W.Va., a son of the late William J. and Effie H. McKown Freeland. Charlie was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors and going to the cabin.

He is survived by three daughters, Sheila (Brian) Tennant, Brenda (Brad) Pios and Lorie (Greg) Belt, all of Parkersburg; one sister, Peggy (Jerry) Saunders of Spencer; two brothers, Leslie "Brook" (Marcia) Freeland of Spencer and James (Peggy) Freeland of Reedy, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Noel (Joshua) Summers, Michael Lott, Justin Slate, Adrian Pios, Austin (Ayla) Freeland, Hunter Freeland, Braiden Belt and Gregory Belt; and three great-grandchildren, Asher Freeland, Dominic Summers and Aaliyah Summers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia J. Goff Freeland, who passed away Nov. 18, 2010; and one brother, Billy Freeland.

Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Sandy Runnion officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday.
